I’ve been contemplating a few incentives to promote more competitive PvP (Arenas and Rated BGs) in the future. As many of you may know, the number of competitive PvPers has dropped substantially this expansion, as more lucrative rewards have been available from raiding, especially in recent months. In my opinion, most of the problems with PvP rewards stem from raiding itemization and rewards, so I have frameworked my ideas around that.

I’ll begin with a short bio. I’ve been playing WoW since the beta, with a Warlock main since 2004. I’ve leveled 7 classes to 80, and most of my time is spent PvPing. I compete in the ~2200-2300 arena bracket on my main, and ~2000+ on my alts. I don’t have forum access on my account so here is an armory link if you are curious:

Idea 1: 3 Tiers of PvP sets per season instead of 2. Moving the upper tier down to mid tier rating requirement, and adding a new higher set tier of rewards for <insert rating> players.

Idea 2: More offset items and such. Higher item level trinkets, non set pieces, rings with procs, etc. rewards for <insert rating> PvPers.

Idea 3: Diminishing the rating requirements for gear as the season progresses. Not an idea I am fond of, as it would diminish the prestige of being a relatively high rated PvPer, but an idea nonetheless.

In addition to these ideas, it would be nice to to see more vanity rewards for PvPers. I would like to have more than just a tabard and a title at the end of the season for all my hard work. One suggestion would be mounts for non-gladiators (perhaps a duelist mount). Most raiders have access to a wide variety of mounts, while only the very best PvPers receive gladiator mounts.

If you have any suggestions of your own, feel free to respond with them. Thanks!
